Abstract

The fact that many students, particularly in Class V 071 Paranta, Rongkong District, still struggle to understand fractions because they can't apply mathematical concepts correctly, motivates this research. This research aims to: (1) find out students' difficulties in solving class fraction material questions; (2) find out the factors contributing to students' difficulty in solving class fraction material questions; and (3) find out how to overcome students' difficulties in solving class fraction material questions. This study employs a qualitative research approach. The techniques used in collecting data are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. We carried out data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research involved 15 fifth-grade students and an educator. The results of this research are the The results of this research reveal the difficulties students face in learning mathematics, particularly with fractions. These difficulties include a lack of understanding of the concept, difficulties in navigating mathematical operations, and a lack These difficulties are caused by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include students' attitudes and interests when learning mathematics, as well as a lack of student motivation to learn. Meanwhile, external factors include the unavailability of media and learning support tools, school infrastructure, and a less supportive family environment. Teachers can use available learning media in the school environment and collaborate with students' parents to overcome difficulties in mathematics learning
